Yosemite Glacier Point
Eye-level views of Half Dome and Yosemite Valley from a sheer 7,200-foot overlook — one of the most iconic panoramas in North America.
About this spectacle
Glacier Point sits high above Yosemite Valley, offering one of the most dramatic panoramic views in North America. From the overlook, visitors stand roughly at eye level with the top of Half Dome, while the valley floor stretches nearly a mile below. Yosemite Falls, Vernal Fall, and Nevada Fall are all visible from a single vantage point. The granite walls glow warm gold in late afternoon light, and on clear evenings the stars emerge over an unobstructed horizon. In winter, snow blankets the high country and the road is closed to cars, but skiers and snowshoers can still reach the point for a hushed, transformed view. Summer mornings bring cool air and the valley wrapped in mist before it burns away. The scale of the landscape — massive domes, cascading waterfalls, and deep glacially carved valley — creates a sense of geological awe that photographs cannot fully capture.
