About this spectacle

Geyser Hill is the most thermally dense section of the Upper Geyser Basin, home to dozens of geysers, hot springs, and fumaroles clustered within easy walking distance of Old Faithful. Visitors follow a series of looping boardwalks that wind past steaming vents and colorful mineral-stained pools, with geysers erupting at irregular intervals throughout the day. The air carries a faint sulfur scent, and the ground hisses and rumbles underfoot. Aurum, Beehive, and Lion geysers are among the highlights, each with its own eruption character — from sudden violent jets to sustained roaring columns. The boardwalks offer close, safe proximity to active thermal features, and the visual combination of steam clouds, vivid blue and orange pools, and snow-dusted bison wandering the basin creates a deeply otherworldly atmosphere.
