Treasure Falls Pagosa
A powerful mountain waterfall near Pagosa Springs, Colorado, reached by a short forest trail with stunning year-round character.
About this spectacle
Treasure Falls is a dramatic waterfall tucked into the San Juan Mountains near Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Visitors follow a short forested trail through a corridor of spruce and fir trees before the cascade comes into view — a ribbon of water plunging roughly 100 feet down a sheer cliff face, framed by dense evergreen canopy. The air near the base carries a cool mist and the constant roar of falling water fills the clearing. In late spring and early summer, snowmelt swells the flow to its most powerful. Winter visits reveal a transformed scene, with ice formations clinging to the surrounding rock. The trailhead is easily accessed from US-160, making this one of the more rewarding quick detours in the southern Colorado Rockies.
