About this spectacle

On 25 November 2030, the moon's shadow sweeps across Maseru, the capital of Lesotho, plunging the city into sudden midday darkness during a total solar eclipse. For a few precious minutes, the sky deepens to a deep twilight blue, the corona blazes white around the silhouetted disc, and the brightest stars and planets become visible in full daylight. The temperature drops noticeably, birds fall silent, and the horizon glows with the eerie orange of a 360-degree sunset ring. Maseru sits at moderate altitude on the western lowlands of Lesotho, offering relatively open sightlines toward a clear southern-hemisphere spring sky. Observers equipped with eclipse glasses for the partial phases and camera equipment with solar filters can capture striking sequences of the diamond ring, Baily's beads, and the ethereal corona. The event is fleeting — totality lasts only minutes — making preparation and clear skies essential to the experience.
