Štrbački buk Waterfall — Croatia
A wide, travertine-stepped waterfall on the Una River, tumbling into vivid turquoise pools inside Una National Park.
About this spectacle
Štrbački buk is a broad, cascading waterfall on the Una River, located near the border of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Visitors arrive to find a wide curtain of white water tumbling over a series of travertine ledges, the river fanning out into turquoise-green pools below. The surrounding landscape is forested and largely untouched, with the sound of rushing water filling the air. The Una National Park context means wildlife and native vegetation press close to the banks. Photographers are drawn to the photogenic layered rock formations and the vivid colour contrast between white foam and teal water. Depending on season, the flow can be thunderous in spring snowmelt or calmer and more intimate in late summer. It is a genuinely dramatic natural spectacle accessible enough for families yet still feeling remote and wild.
