About this spectacle

Shaki Waterfall is one of Armenia's most striking natural features, tucked into the lush gorge landscape of Syunik Province in the country's south. Visitors approach along a trail through dense riverside vegetation, the sound of rushing water building before the falls come into view — a broad curtain of white water dropping dramatically over a basalt cliff face. The surrounding canyon walls are draped in mosses and wildflowers in spring and summer, while autumn brings vivid foliage to the hillsides. In winter, the waterfall can partially freeze into spectacular ice formations. The roar and mist of the falls create an immersive sensory experience. The site sits near the historic town of Sisian, making it accessible as a day excursion from southern Armenia's cultural corridor.
