Setrock Creek Falls is a waterfall tucked within the Black Mountains of western North Carolina, near the Mount Mitchell State Park area. Visitors follow a forested trail through dense hardwood and conifer woodland before arriving at the falls, where Setrock Creek tumbles over a rocky ledge into a clear pool below. The sound of rushing water fills the hollow, and the cool, mist-laden air offers relief even in summer. Light filters through the tree canopy, casting shifting patterns on the wet rock face. In autumn, surrounding foliage transforms into vivid golds and reds, framing the cascade with seasonal color. In winter, cold temperatures occasionally freeze the falls into dramatic ice formations, adding a raw, sculptural quality to the scene.
