About this spectacle

Roaring Fork Falls is a secluded waterfall tucked into the forests of western North Carolina, likely within or near the Pisgah National Forest or a similar mountain wilderness. Visitors can expect the sound of rushing water well before the falls come into view — a curtain of white cascading over dark rock into a clear pool below. The surrounding hardwood and conifer forest creates a canopy that filters light in dappled patterns, and in autumn the foliage transforms the scene into vivid golds and reds. The air carries a cool mist near the base, and birdsong fills the gorge. It's the kind of waterfall that rewards those who make the short hike — intimate in scale but dramatic in presence, especially after heavy rain when the volume swells noticeably.
