Kjelfossen Waterfall — Norway
A thundering multi-tiered waterfall pouring down the sheer walls of a Norwegian fjord valley, most dramatic during spring snowmelt.
About this spectacle
Kjelfossen is a dramatic multi-tiered waterfall cascading down the steep walls of a Norwegian fjord valley in Vestland. Visitors witness a powerful rush of white water plunging hundreds of metres across moss-covered rock faces, with the roar of the falls audible long before the cascade comes into view. The surrounding landscape is defined by lush green slopes, birch woodland, and the cool mist that drifts outward from the base. In spring and early summer, snowmelt swells the falls to their most spectacular volume, creating an almost constant veil of spray. The valley setting amplifies the sense of scale and wilderness. Photographers are drawn to the layered curtains of falling water set against the verdant Norwegian hillside, especially on overcast days when soft light enhances contrast without harsh shadows.
