About this spectacle

Standing at 3,454 metres in the Swiss Alps, Jungfraujoch delivers one of Europe's most dramatic high-altitude panoramas. A cogwheel railway bores through the Eiger and Mönch before depositing visitors at the highest railway station on the continent. Step outside onto the Sphinx terrace and the Aletsch Glacier—the longest in the Alps—unfurls below in a sweeping river of ice, flanked by jagged peaks dusted white year-round. The cold is immediate and biting even in summer; thin air reminds you that you are genuinely high. On clear days the horizon stretches across Switzerland, France, and Germany. Inside, heated galleries and an ice palace carved within the glacier itself offer respite. It is a landscape of stark silence punctuated by wind, and a sense of elevation that few accessible mountain experiences can rival.
