About this spectacle

Issaqueena Falls is a cascading waterfall tucked into the forested hills of the South Carolina Upstate, near the town of Walhalla and the edge of Sumter National Forest. Visitors follow a short trail through dense deciduous and pine woodland before arriving at a tiered cascade that drops over mossy rock faces, framed by lush green vegetation. The sound of rushing water builds as you approach, and in wetter seasons the falls swell to an impressive volume. The surrounding forest offers dappled light through the canopy, making the scene feel secluded and immersive. Autumn brings warm foliage colours that contrast with the white water, while spring sees vibrant greenery and higher flow. The area is quiet and relatively undeveloped, giving it a wild, off-the-beaten-path character despite being accessible via a short walk.
