Standing on the catwalks above Iguazu Falls, visitors are enveloped in a roar that drowns out all conversation as spray soaks clothing within seconds. The Devil's Throat — a U-shaped chasm where the river vanishes into a white void — is the visceral heart of the experience, with water plunging 82 metres and spray rising 30 metres above the jungle canopy. Rainbows form and dissolve in the mist at every turn, while toucans call from the subtropical treetops and coatis brazenly patrol the walkways searching for food. The sheer scale — 275 cascades stretching nearly 3 kilometres — means no single viewpoint captures it all; visitors move between lower and upper circuits, constantly recalibrating their sense of what is possible in nature. After the Amazonian rainy season the volume intensifies dramatically, the falls merging into a near-continuous wall of water that vibrates underfoot. The surrounding park buzzes with giant butterflies, parrots, and the distant crash of unseen cascades, making every step feel like a discovery.
