Dunas de Corralejo
A vast sea of golden dunes on Fuerteventura's north tip, where Atlantic winds sculpt towering ridges against a backdrop of deep-blue ocean and volcanic islands.
About this spectacle
The Dunas de Corralejo stretch across the northeastern tip of Fuerteventura, forming one of the most dramatic sand dune landscapes in the Canary Islands. Visitors walk among golden dunes that rise and shift with the Atlantic wind, with the deep blue of the ocean and the volcanic silhouette of Lanzarote visible on the horizon. The scale is expansive — wide open skies, almost no vegetation in the core dune field, and an ever-changing interplay of light and shadow across sculpted sand ridges. The wind is almost constant, carrying fine grains and a salty tang. At dawn and dusk, low-angle light turns the dunes warm amber and copper. The protected natural park status keeps development at bay, lending the landscape a genuinely wild, remote feel despite proximity to the resort town of Corralejo. It is a place of sensory clarity: wind, sand, sun, and sea.
