Dingli Cliffs
Malta's highest coastal cliffs plunge into the open Mediterranean, offering some of the island's most dramatic and crowd-free panoramic views.
About this spectacle
Dingli Cliffs rise dramatically along Malta's southwestern coastline, dropping sharply into the Mediterranean Sea below. Standing at the island's highest point, visitors are met with sweeping, uninterrupted views stretching toward the horizon — on clear days, the distant silhouette of the uninhabited island of Filfla is visible offshore. The cliffs are lined with terraced fields of pale limestone, carved over centuries into the rugged plateau edge. Wind whips steadily off the sea, carrying the scent of salt and wild herbs that dot the scrubland. At dusk, the golden Maltese light turns the limestone a warm amber, and the sun melts slowly into the sea in a display that draws photographers and walkers alike. The relative quiet — few crowds compared to Valletta or the Blue Grotto — makes it a contemplative escape on an otherwise busy island.
