Davis Falls — Nepal
A roaring waterfall near Pokhara that vanishes dramatically into a deep underground gorge — one of Nepal's most striking natural curiosities.
About this spectacle
Davis Falls is a dramatic waterfall near Pokhara, Nepal, where the Pardi Khola river abruptly disappears into a deep underground gorge. Visitors stand at the edge of a roaring chasm and watch the thundering white water vanish into darkness below, the mist rising in cool clouds and the sound reverberating off the narrow rock walls. The falls are particularly spectacular during and after the monsoon season when the river runs full and fierce. A short walkway allows visitors to peer down into the churning gorge from multiple angles. The surrounding area is lush and green, with ferns and mosses clinging to the damp walls. The dramatic sight of water seemingly swallowing itself into the earth gives the falls a striking, almost otherworldly character that makes it one of Pokhara's most memorable natural attractions.
