About this spectacle

Conch Reef is a living coral reef system located in the Florida Keys, part of the Florida Reef Tract — the only barrier reef in the continental United States. Divers and snorkelers descend into a world of branching staghorn and elkhorn corals, sea fans swaying in gentle currents, and dense schools of reef fish weaving through the structure. Moray eels peer from crevices, spiny lobsters hide beneath ledges, and spotted eagle rays glide past in open water. The water is typically clear and warm, offering excellent visibility for underwater photography. The reef sits within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, providing a degree of ecological protection. Above water, the experience begins with a boat ride across the shallow, turquoise waters of the Keys, with the Atlantic stretching in every direction. It is an intimate, immersive encounter with one of America's most important and fragile marine ecosystems.
