Bukhansan Baegundae Peak
Seoul's granite crown: a dramatic summit hike above the megacity, delivering panoramic views of mountains and urban sprawl in one sweep.
About this spectacle
Bukhansan Baegundae Peak is the highest point in Bukhansan National Park, rising above the northern edge of Seoul. Hikers who reach the summit are rewarded with sweeping panoramic views across the vast urban sprawl of the South Korean capital contrasted against the rugged granite ridgelines of the Bukhansan massif. The exposed granite dome at the top demands careful footwork on steep rock faces, often equipped with fixed ropes and chains. In autumn, the forested slopes blaze with red and orange foliage, while spring brings fresh green canopies. The summit experience is visceral — wind-whipped rock, expansive sky, and the surreal sight of a megacity stretching to the horizon below.
