Buccoo Reef
Tobago's iconic shallow coral reef, explored by glass-bottom boat and snorkel, showcasing vibrant Caribbean marine life in warm, accessible waters.
About this spectacle
Buccoo Reef is a shallow coral reef system off the southwest coast of Tobago, Trinidad and Tobago. Visitors typically access the reef by glass-bottom boat, gliding over brilliant living coral gardens teeming with tropical fish, sea turtles, and other marine life in crystal-clear Caribbean waters. The famous Nylon Pool — a natural shallow lagoon of sparkling turquoise water nearby — is a highlight of reef tours. Above the water, the warm tropical sun and the sounds of the sea create a deeply sensory experience. Snorkelers can dip into the warm, shallow waters to observe parrotfish, angelfish, and darting reef creatures at close range. The reef's accessibility makes it one of the most visited natural marine sites in the southern Caribbean, offering a vivid window into a functioning coral ecosystem without requiring dive certification.
