About this spectacle

Bridalveil Fall drops 188 metres into the western end of Yosemite Valley, its slender ribbon of white water catching the light and often fanning into a delicate mist that earns it its name. On breezy days the curtain of water sways and twists, scattering rainbows when the sun hits at the right angle. Visitors walk a short paved trail to a viewpoint where spray drifts across the path, cooling the air even on hot summer afternoons. The falls roar in spring when snowmelt swells the flow, then soften to a gossamer trickle by late summer. Surrounding cliffs of grey granite rise sharply, framing the plunge perfectly. The short, accessible approach means families, casual hikers and photographers all share the space, making it one of Yosemite's most visited natural features.
