Ban Gioc–Detian Falls — China
One of Asia's largest waterfalls, Ban Gioc–Detian cascades over vast limestone tiers on the China-Vietnam border, framed by iconic karst peaks.
About this spectacle
Ban Gioc–Detian Falls straddles the border between China and Vietnam, making it one of the largest waterfalls in Asia and the largest transnational waterfall in the world. Standing at the Chinese side in Guangxi, visitors witness multiple tiers of cascading white water thundering over wide limestone ledges, set against a lush backdrop of karst hills and dense subtropical vegetation. The roar of the falls is constant and immersive, with a cool mist rising from the plunge pools below. Bamboo rafts can sometimes be hired nearby, allowing visitors to drift close to the base of the falls and feel the full force of the spray. The surrounding scenery — terraced rice paddies, jade-green pools, and jagged karst peaks — creates a dramatic and photogenic landscape that rewards careful exploration along the riverbanks.
