Wilde Narzissen Perlenbachtal
White wild-daffodil meadows in late April near Monschau.
About this spectacle
Each spring, the Perlenbachtal valley near Monschau transforms into a sweeping carpet of white wild daffodils (Narcissus pseudonarcissus), one of the most striking floral spectacles in the Eifel region of North Rhine-Westphalia. Walking the valley trails, visitors are surrounded by thousands of nodding white blooms with creamy-yellow trumpets, their sweet fragrance carried on cool April air. The soft hum of early bees, birdsong from surrounding hillside forest, and the rush of the Perlenbach stream weave through the experience. The meadows glow luminously under overcast northern light, which diffuses evenly across the white blooms — ideal conditions for photography. The setting is intimate and relatively undisturbed, framed by low wooded ridges and stone walls typical of the Eifel landscape. The bloom window is brief, typically peaking over just two to three weeks in late April, rewarding visitors who time their trip carefully with an almost otherworldly display of white.
